Starry Starry night...

Please make note of the links at the bottom of this page. I am now going to make the links a part of this web page, and I'll leave the links on as long as I have this web site. If you have any good astronomy links, please let me know and I'll add them to the list!

On to the exercise....

Do the Planetarium Activity on page 369 of your textbook and turn it in today.

Note:
The Stonebelt Stargazers have their next monthly meeting on Monday Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Morrow Observatory classroom. Visitors are always welcome! Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m., with special events held throughout the year, such as Grissom Days at Spring Mill State Park.

At the last Stargazer meeting, Morrow Observatory was opened, and there were two other telescopes and one large set of binoculars taking advantage of the relatively clear sky.

Make sure you read all the instructions for today before you start on Starry Night Pro.

Use Starry night pro to do the Planetarium Activity on page 262 (at the end of the chapter on Mars) in your textbook. Turn in the assignment today. You will also need to turn in the assignment from Tuesday.

Once you've completed the assignment, turn both in to the substitute and then go to the following web sites and see what's up in the sky.

Make sure you see the images of yesterday's Mercury Transit (there is a gallery of them) on Spaceweather.com.

I'm sorry that you didn't get to go outside for the transit since I wasn't at BNL. Greg Meade, the V.P. of the Stonebelt Stargazers was, however, in the parking lot across from the Observatory from about 3:15 until sometime after 5:00 with his telescope and solar filter. I know that several people were able to view the transit and 3 sunspots thanks to his efforts.
